Bailleu says Smart Meter roll out will continue

The smart meter review being conducted by the Bailleu government has ended. Unsurprisingly, the review came to the conclusion that too much has already been spent on the smart meter programme and it will continue. As of December 2011, there are just under 1 million smart meters in Victorian households. The so-called review was just a bit of politics to make the Bailleu government look like they were doing something about the problem.

The notion that too much has already been spent is absolutely absurd. By stopping any further installation, money is saved. Persisting with the programme would require paying contractors to continue visiting the remaining properties to install the meters, and more electricity bill blowouts for customers. By continuing with the rollout, it will cost more, not less.
